Luke updates

We went to Luke's 2 month appointment last  Thursday. The Man is now 11 lb 8 oz, which is 60% growth from his birth weight. He is 50% percentile for weight and 75% for height. The kid sure loves to eat. He eats about 4-6 oz during a big meal, although last week he ate 7 oz and then an hour and a half later ate another 5.

How do I know how much he eats? Because now Luke is almost exclusively bottle fed. Breastfeeding is really not my favorite thing. Even after giving up dairy, Luke still would cry and cry and me at least once a day (usually more often) when I tried to feed him. I don't know if he had gas or what, but it hurt me trying to feed him because he kept latching on and then pulling off. Hard. After 2 months, I was still bleeding when I fed him. And he would cry hysterically, which is never fun. Two weeks ago I decided that enough is enough. However, I still believe that breast milk is the best thing for babies, so I pump 5-6 times a day and Luke drinks that from a bottle. We have a much better relationship now that I don't get frustrated with him when I try to feed him.

Luke is also very alert. His pediatrician has told me a couple times that he acts older than his age. His eye contact and interaction is higher than average. He also rolls over, which is kind of early. He first started doing it a month ago and while he doesn't do it consistently, he does it regularly enough that it doesn't seem accidental. I'm afraid he'll be mobile before I can baby-proof our apartment.

  1. Congrats to your folks! And amen to the breastfeeding thing!!! I HATE IT. I know it's supposed to be quality baby bonding time, but it always was more a source of contention to me :) Madilyn I breast fed for six months, and with Kira I only lasted four. Mind you we supplemented with both of them from day one. And nursing bras suck, and your wet all the time, and your boobs are big and hurt...just NOT fun!!!
