Normally St. Patrick's Day doesn't even register on my radar. It's pretty much a non-holiday for me. That is, until I moved to Chicago. For some reason, St. Patrick's Day is HUGE here. Remember this scene from The Fugitive?
Yeah, they really do have a parade. Jason and I went to it last Saturday. It was actually held in a different part of town than in this scene from the movie, but the general feel is the same: marching bands, politicians, green hats, random people walking in the parade, roller-blading Catholic priests....
It's not in that scene (from The Fugitive), but near there, one of the characters talks about dying the river green. I heard that when I was a kid and figured it would be kind of a sea-green. Nope. It's a bright green.
We had a great day celebrating St. Patrick's Day, Chi-Town style. And because it was a very Chicago day, we decided to get Chicago style pizza.
