I cut my finger

You know how most things are over-packaged when you buy them? Like when the rice cooker you just bought comes in a box twice the size of the actual cooker and the rest of it is filled with unnecessary plastic and styrofoam and all sorts of plastic twist-ties?

Well last Saturday I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond to get more fun kitchen stuff because we still had some gift cards from the wedding.Without exception, all of these items had way too much packaging. One of the things I bought was a spaghetti scooper.

Notice the little hole in the handle? There was a big, old, fat piece of plastic through that little hole and then clasped with a giant plastic disk on either side of it. One must only assume that the cardboard backing needed lots of support to merit such a large piece of plastic. Regardless, the only way I could get the plastic rod out was to cut it off. With my brand new, very sharp kitchen scissors. And darn it if I didn't make sure my finger was out of the way. At least I didn't cut my finger off. I just have a one-inch long cut on the end of my left index finger. If I still lived in Gunnison I would have probably gotten a couple stitches. But I just paid for an appendectomy and didn't want to pay for another ER visit. So I used some sticky medical breathable tape things that I had leftover from a previous "incident" to keep the skin together for a few days and covered it with a couple bandaids. I took off the bandaids and tape today and I'd say it's healing nicely.

Also, I was called to be the ward organist last Sunday. Good thing it's stake conference this week to give me one more week to get better.
