I went to LA last weekend for the second time in my life. I was 12 years old the first time I went and it was pretty cool (at least conceptually) because I heard the Rach 3rd live. But, at the time I didn't know that concerto was one of the most incredible/difficult pieces of piano music ever written and so I didn't really appreciate it. And I don't really remember it. So basically, I don't count that trip to LA.
So I was pretty excited to go last weekend. I went down there with a friend. We visited Hollywood, saw the Chinese theater with all the hands/feet in cement (btw, Judy Garland either had tiny feet or really high heels...I had to stand on my tip-toes to get my feet to match hers), and the walk of fame. We walked along Rodeo Drive, visited the LA temple, went to an Angels-A's game, and hung out at the Santa Monica pier. It was pretty awesome and I had a great time. Yay for road trips with friends!
