I saw this posted on facebook yesterday and thought I'd share. It's about why the author doesn't have a smart phone so she can be more involved in her kids' lives. I've never really wanted a smart phone, but I usually only thought about it in context of adult interactions. Most of the ways she mentions to "miss a childhood" are reasons why I dislike interacting with people when they're attached to their phones, but I always thought about those reasons with adults. Now that I have Luke and now that I've read this article, I feel even less incentive to get a smart phone for myself. I'd hate to start treating my own kids that way.
I don't feel like I've said this very eloquently, but basically I'm saying I feel guilty enough being on my computer working all day, missing interacting with Luke like I could when he was first born and a smart phone would only add to the distraction. I'm going to try to be on my computer even less after I finish work each day so that I can enjoy my baby's childhood.
Thanks for sharing. Good thoughts.
